This four hour course aims to teach you the principals of using an AED.
We recommend that if your workplace has an AED, there should be at least one person on each shift who is trained to use it. The primary purpose of this course is to teach you why and when a defibrillator should be used.
You will learn how to safely administer defibrillation as well as some important safety consideration when using a defibrillator. As well as covering the use of an AED, our course covers basic first aid. This is a very beneficial skill to have, as well as being essential in the use of an AED.

There will be no formal assessment at the end of this course, however the tutor will carry out a continuous assessment of you performance throughout the course.
On completion of the course you will receive a Medic 1 certificate. The Certificate is valid for six months. After your certificate expires at the end of this period it is recommend that you do another AED course to refresh your knowledge and skills.
During the course Medic 1 will provide light refreshments. If you are travelling away from home to attend our courses we can book accommodation on your behalf. This would incur additional costs and can be arranged within a range of budgets

Medic 1 offer additional bite sized on line modules that allow you to test and maintain your knowledge. It may be possible to offer successful students the opportunity of paid work with our experienced ambulance staff.
