Basic Emergency Aid is a four hour course. It is designed to be tailored to suit a particular need. For example a leisure centre might want staff with Basic Emergency aid, this course would specialise in limb injuries, sprains and strains.
The course content will vary depending on your particular needs however the course will always have cardiopulmonary resuscitation and dealing with an unconscious casualty. Medic 1 will always advise you on the best topics needed for the course based on the environment and the risks involved.
The course will consist of a combination of theoretical studies and practical scenarios. During the course the Medic 1 trainer will provide you with hand-outs of the topics that have been covered on the course and a resuscitation face mask.

There is no formal assessment with this course. The tutor will perform continual assessment throughout the course. If they feel that a student is struggling with the course material they will do everything they can to ensure that they feel confident and competent in providing first aid.
On completion of the course you will receive a Medic 1 certificate. This certificate is valid for one year, after this you will be required to take the Basic Emergency Aid course again to regain your certificate.
During the course Medic 1 will provide light refreshments. If you are travelling away from home to attend our courses we can book accommodation on your behalf. This would incur additional costs and can be arranged within a range of budgets

Medic 1 offer additional bite sized on line modules that allow you to test and maintain your knowledge. It may be possible to offer successful students the opportunity of paid work with our experienced ambulance staff.
