A private service, booked and paid for by you
If you have searched for patient transport in North Wales, you may have been looking for the free NHS service. Medic 1 is not that service. We are a private ambulance company. You, a relative, or the organisation arranging the journey pays for the transport. You do not need an NHS referral, and a booking with us does not take an NHS patient transport place.
If free NHS transport is what you need, the hospital or your GP can tell you how to ask for it. If you want to arrange the journey yourself, get a price on this site or call us.
Collecting across the six counties
Our base is in Llangefni, on Anglesey. From there, crews travel across Gwynedd, Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham. When the journey leaves the region, the same booking covers North Wales and throughout the UK. A typical collection is a hospital, a care home, a hospice, or a private address.
The price uses the places you choose on the form. Check the town, county and postcode before you continue. Bangor in Gwynedd is not Bangor in County Down.

Hospitals we are asked for
People book us to and from Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor, Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in Bodelwyddan, and Wrexham Maelor Hospital. Those three sites cover most of the acute care in the region, and many private journeys are a discharge, an admission, or a move between them.
We also collect from Llandudno General, Abergele, Ysbyty Penrhos Stanley in Holyhead, and community hospitals including Colwyn Bay, Deeside, Holywell, Mold, Denbigh, Ruthin, Chirk, Cefni in Llangefni, Ysbyty Alltwen, Ysbyty Eryri, Bryn Beryl, Dolgellau and Barmouth, and Tywyn. A short hop from a community hospital can still be unsuitable for a family car.
What to tell us about the person travelling
You do not have to decide the vehicle or the crew grade before you ask for a price. Tell us whether the person walks, needs a hand, uses a wheelchair, or needs a stretcher. Say if oxygen or monitoring is needed, and if a family member or carer is coming. Where there is a seat, an escort can usually travel too.
The ambulance that arrives is white, with yellow and green Battenburg markings, and the crew wear green uniforms. If the journey leaves the region, the long-distance page explains the price.
Private ambulance prices
